Close Calls

Last week, while holding Zach, I tripped over the right corner of our sofa, fell backwards, and almost hit the ground. I stumbled big time, but was able to get my balance. It was an extremely close call. Randi saw what happened and busted out laughing. Randi is not much better. She continues to bump into walls (sometimes while holding Zach), trips over the left corner of our bed, and repeatedly hits her foot over the ottoman in our living room (also sometimes when holding Zach). What is causing these near falls? At first, I thought it was the sleep factor. But, we're getting decent sleep (sort of - stay tuned to Zach's new sleep schedule). Then I thought that the goblin cast a spell on us (goblin has been staring at us, laughs, then raises his arms and holds them in the air for 3-5 seconds). But Goblin loves us and he would never do such a thing. So, the only thing that I can think of causing Randi and I to almost fall to the ground while holding him is his massive tush and chubby
thighs - this is causing a disproportionate weight balance. Check out the pics.

Here he is.. casting his spell! We're having way too much fun with this.

Happy New Year

It appears that the little guy likes going to synagogue.. for now at least. That is Josh's yarmulke when he was a baby. Zach slept almost the entire service. He is such a sweet baby boy!

"Someone taped $10 to my son's balls!"

Well, we made it through Zach's first Rosh Hashanah. We even took him to synagogue. He did great! Then we were off to Aunt Blanche's for 2nd night dinner. We were delighted to show him off although I am still very nervous with large groups. My family could think I am officially crazy. On our way home, Zach decided to take his massive daily dump. For some reason, his Pampers leak horribly when he is sitting in his car seat. We knew we were in for a mess once we got home. Josh did the honors as I was getting ready to feed him. From the other room I hear, "Hey Ran, someone taped $10 to my son's balls." What?? I came in the room and sure enough, there was $10 in a little baggy, taped to Zach's diaper with a little note that read "Please put in my piggy bank." I took one quick look at the writing and knew it was Grandpa's. What a jokester. He is lucky there wasn't sh*t all over it.

*Note: The pictures below are not real. They are a reenactment of the real thing minus the sh*t!

Zach slept from 8:30PM to 4:00AM!

I don't know how long this will last, but Josh and I got 6.5 hours of straight sleep last night, thus contributing to a happy baby, and a happy mommy and daddy.

My Back Is Hurting

Little guy was born exactly 8 weeks and 14 minutes ago. It really is true that they grow so quickly, not only physically, but also their senses. Zach should be at the 10 pound mark, and boy, am I feeling it. There has got to be another way to put goblin to sleep other than to hold and rock him back and forth (like an orthodox at shul on a saturday morning) while walking in a "T" formation around the house. As I was doing my "T" formation tonight, my back started to hurt. I know I should not blame my back pain on goblin, but, why not, he can't argue with me. Seriously, I challenge anyone to walk with a ten pound weight, holding the weight horizontally in front of you, and dovining like there is no tomorrow for 25 minutes. I was just telling Randi that I'm going to have to buy one of those back braces that you see employees wearing at Albertsons (while they stock the freezeers). All I can say is that I look forward to the day when goblin will be conditioned to fall asleep upon hearing relaxing tunes, the sound of waves, or the reading of a book - of course, all being done while sitting.

Switching subjects for a minute... Zach's senses. If he is laying down on our couch or bed, and Randi and I are walking around, his eyes follow us. I love walking behind him and him trying to see me (is that cruel?). His hearing is not shaby also. Whenever Randi drops a dish, or bumps into a wall at night after a feeding, or is doing the dishes at 3 a.m., Zach opens his big blue eyes and looks so startled. His arms also fling upwards. It's kind of funny.

Ok, time to put a heating pad on my back. Go Eagles.

0-1

We are so happy it is Football Season. Our fun got cut short last year, right about the time Donovan McNabb got hurt. We were on our way to Hawaii and the airplane steward came up to us and asked us "If we wanted the bad news, or the even more bad news?" The Eagles had lost and McNabb was out for the season. Three days later, I found out I was pregnant. The rest of the season, needless to say was a sober one!

We woke up about 9:10 Sunday morning with Zachary laying next to us and a wave of excitement came over Josh and me. It was a big day for the little guy. His first Eagles game. We got him dressed, Josh popped open a bud light, we scrambled some eggs, and the rest was history. The game was horrible but hopefully they got it all out of their systems.

Dom Perignon

Vegas was a good thing! I'm now very confident in my parents abilities to take care of Zach without a worry in the world! (like I ever really worried before, wink wink). Uncle Carl gave us a gift certificate for dinner at Ruth Chris. We enjoyed a celebratory toast with my mom, dad and DOM followed by an amazing dinner. Today was a good day! Let's see how tonight pans out. Thank you Uncle Carl and Mom and Dad for offering to visit and babysit!

By the way, Zachary is growing very nicely. He is now 9 lbs., 12 oz. I told you he was a darn good eater!!!

Noah

Jonathan, Rebecca and Noah came to visit a couple of weeks ago. We always enjoy seeing them. I wish desperately that they lived closer to us, especially now! Noah is about 18 months now and is officially the "big cousin" It was such a delight seeing him. He was so big and adorable. Thank you so much for coming to Orange County not once but twice to visit!

One More for the Road

He is sleeping right now. What can I say, I am on a roll.

He is starting to smile...

Tax Deduction

We gave this to my dad, very appropriate for a CPA.

The 4th Generation

It was amazing to see my grandma hold Zach. She was so cute in her rock n roll shirt. She kept saying that Zach was such an "atesh" baby, which means such a cute baby in Hungarian. She also thought he looked like a little girl. I wish all of my grandparents were here to experience the joy he has brought her. I know they are all looking down upon us smiling.

Vegas, Baby!

So we did it. My wonderful, amazing parents watched Zachary for 24 hours and Josh and I headed off to Vegas. From what I hear, (or didn't hear, rather) they did a fabulous job. They even swaddled him in what my mom calls a "straight jacket." It sounds like he behaved better for them, then he does for us. They were only awakened once at 4:00 am to the sounds of Zachary's outrageous farts. 4 oz later, and they were back to bed. I didn't think I would be able to leave my little man, but my bigger man and I needed a little bit of time away. So off we went with a drink in one hand and my handy breast pump in another. My tolerance level has seemed to be unchanged for some reason. I thought for sure I would only need a drink or two but no, I still needed several. We had a great time. Our friend Mike got a table at Body English on Saturday night. Josh was the one who grew tired first. I was the one however, that actually closed my eyes while sitting at the slot machine. We stayed out until 3:00 am. Not bad for us old-timers. Sunday morning needless to say was "Rehab." We love Rehab. We might be retired though. At $50 a lawn chair and $22 a drink, we think Sundays at Rehab might be becoming over-rated. It was still an amazing time but it was Vegas' best kept secret for the last several years. 24 hours went by very fast. I only called home 6-8 times, which I think is reasonable. Couldn't wait to get back though. I don't think Zach noticed we were gone. HA HA
