TURN BACK THE CLOCK
Where has our little sleep baby gone? We wish we can turn back the clock to 3 months when Zach was sleeping the entire night - were talking 8-9 hours straight (without a feeding). Now, he wakes up two times during the night (around 1:30 and 4:30 a.m.) to eat. Maybe he is going through a growth spurt. If so, I'd rather him stay midget size so that we can sleep a full night. I'm joking, but, sleep is pretty rough these days. Randi just fell asleep on the couch and it's only 8:17 p.m. We were thinking that giving him "solids" would make him full at night. Two things about that: Zach is not really liking "solid" foods at this time. The second thing is that a can of gerber solid food (generally a 2.5 oz can) is only 25 calories, which equals only one ounce of breastmilk - which is nothing. So, it appears to be a myth that "solids" make a baby full (unless were talking about real solids like daddy's favorite - steak, or mommy's favorite -zucchini). We realize that we have to let Zach put his fingers in the food. This seems to work.

DANCING IN THE SNOW
Check out the three of us dancing. One of my buddies, "Maddog Potash," gave me the idea by sending me an animation of his family (wife and dog) dancing. If you cant click on this and get to the page, copy and paste it.

Sweet Potatoes and Tummy Time
Zach is loving his tummy time lately. That might be because he can now scoot on his tummy and on his back. In fact, he has a new trick that really gets us through the tough nights. We put Zach down to sleep with his head near the doorway and his feet facing the window. ALmost every night now, we find that he has done a complete 180 degree turn. It is quite amazing. We're not talking 90 degrees or a diagonal... I mean a complete 180, straight line, with his feet facing the opposite direction we originally laid him in.. The first time he did it, Josh and I thought we might be delirious and one of us actually put him in the wrong way. Here are a few pictures of our smiley Zach on his tummy.

We moved on to sweet potatoes this weekend. We really thought Zach would like them but it looks like he is still confused! I can not even eat in front of him anymore. He looks at me with his big blue eyes like he is begging me for a bite!

NO GIFTS THIS YEAR
Chanukah ends tonight. In the past, Randi and I have exchanged gifts. Aint the case this year (sent Randi back to work asap). Not getting each other gifts did not mean that Zach was not going to get anything. After all, it was his first Chanukah. So, on the second night, we got him a humidifier. Take a guess why. I don't think his nose will ever stop running. I guess my dress shirts will continue to have stains on it from Zach's snot. Interestingly, no one at my work has asked me about the stains on my shirts. I guess that's the life of a dad. But, I wouldn't trade it for anything. By the way, Randi made a great Chanukah dinner. The cookies however were a disaster.
