Hanukkah - Part II

We celebrated Hanukkah with my aunts, uncles and cousins on Thursday. Zach had plenty of activities to keep him busy such as stair climbing, wrestling, punching bags, dreidels and latkes. We had so much fun! Thank you to everyone for entertaining Zach, for the great gifts, and good company. As Zach gets older, each holiday truly gets more and more enjoyable.

First Hair Cut

We've been talking about doing this for almost 6 months but everyone kept saying "You can't do it!" But really people, it was time. I got to play and enjoy "stay at home" mom for the day and thought how nice it would be for Zach to have a xmas eve haircut (wink-wink)! I told her not to cut too much and that we love the curls!! He still has the curls - just without the mullet on the bottom or the afro on top. Zachy grimaced for about a half of second and then kept giving the woman a "What the heck do you think you are doing to me " look. But all in all - the kid suprised me again. Didn't really phase him one bit!

And the result ...

I just love this kid!

Hanukkah - Part 1

We had the brilliant idea to have a few friends over for Hanukkah and to celebrate the Eagles minuscule glimmer of hope of getting into the playoffs. Good thing we were celebrating not just one but TWO things.

Zach's "BIG" Hanukkah gift is his very own chair. We hope this will keep him from climbing on our furniture. Although he is much more interested in gifts compared to his 1st birthday - he still just loved the paper the most!

Happy Holidays to all!

Potty Training

No, he's not potty trained yet, but, we should probably start trying... When Zachy has to take a dump, he walks to an area of our house where he is out of sight from daddy and mommy. Last night, he starts farting a bunch of times (and laughs while doing it) in the living room. Minutes later, he runs (fast walk) to the bathroom and closes the door. At first, I'm thinking he wants to play a game. I walk to the bathroom, try to open the door and I am met with him slamming the door on me. I try to open it again. Again, he shuts the door on me. I start to realize that he may be pumping one out. Since I was not 100% sure what he was doing and since he wasn't letting me in the bathroom, I laid on the floor and looked under the door (to make sure he didn't walk away from the door to the tub). I see his feet next to the door and he is not moving. I then hear a grunt (learns from daddy - just kidding). After he was done, I was able to get into the bathroom and boy was there a smell - a duke of course. From what we have been reading, this is one of the signs of Zachy being ready to be potty trained. The other sign, which he does sometimes, is wanting to have his diaper changed after a duke. I feel that we are close to starting the process. Not sure how I am going to feel with Zachy making "accidents" on our floor...

Okay, this was crazy... Last week, and immediately before going to sleep, Zachy was farting. Not sure if it helped the situation by momma giving Zachy prunes a half hour before sleep. Anyway, we put Zachy in his crib and as usual, we leave. We hear him fussing a little, which is not that unusual, but we just ignored him. About 10 minutes later, I checked on him and he was sleeping. HOWEVER, his room stunk like s%^t. I sniff his butt and confirmed that he duked. So, I wake up Randi (yes, she falls asleep at basically the same time as Zachy these days - 7:30 p.m) and tell her that we need to wake Zachy to change him. We pick him up and he stays asleep. We put him on the changing table and he is still sleeping. We take off and put on a new diaper and HE IS STILL SLEEPING. He did not wake up at all during this process. It was incredible. We put him back in his crib as if nothing ever happened.

Here are a few pictures of the duke ... just kidding.

A Good Reminder

Josh and I had the night off Saturday night to attend my work holiday party. We really did it up - a pre-party, hotel room and even a post-party were all on the agenda. I continue to think that I can drink like I did 10 years ago, or even like I could two and a half years ago. It just isn't the case anymore. We had SOOOOO much fun on Saturday night but boy was I hurting on Sunday. It was a good reminder that those days are over and how much we cherish spending time with our little man!

Trying to get Kao to turn as red as possible!

Dancing ...

Giving Josh some Love!

Josh and I thought it would be funny to take a picture in front of the Xmas tree.

Thanks mom and dad for spoiling Zach for us yet again. He came back happier than ever on Sunday!

We're Back!

Hawaii was beautiful and Zach is truly a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed every minute of his first big trip. He was such a champ on the airplane - so much so I could probably get back on another one, tomorrow. The "junk" in the $1 target bins came in very handy, as did the straws and Josh's magical ability to put Zach to sleep. We didn't even need to resort to any benadryl or other nightime sleep aids. He loved chasing the roosters, chickens and birds. He LOVED the ocean and his daily walks. His new favorite word is "OOH." By the end of the trip, we also got him going on saying purple, shoes, go and up! We're still trying to figure out how he can say purple and can not yet say hi! Go figure. Thank you Mom and Dad for being so gracious and letting us all tag along.
