My birthday, as many of you know falls on Valentine's Day. When I was young, my dad would send me flowers to school. I got so much attention from the other kids. As many of you also know, I was a birthday present to my mother.. yes, we were both born on Valentine's Day. It has always been pretty special sharing it with her, except of course in my teenage years when I just wanted to have "MY" birthday. It got a little worse once I arrived at college. Melissa, my college roommate and one of my best friends would always try so hard to make my birthday special. SHe would post funny pictures of me around the dorms or the sorority house, or we would skip school and go to our favorite place "Somethings Fishy." But when the clock struck 12:00 AM.. for some reason I was always crying. Maybe the alcohol had something to do with it. Since I met Josh, he continually tries to make my birthday as well as V-day special. People often tell me Josh must have it tough, having a double whammy. I also get asked alot if I get jipped.. The answer is NEVER. Josh always gets me two cards - one for my bday and another or Valentine's Day. At the same time however, I find myself each year spending quite of a bit of time trying to figure out how to make his day special as well. This year was different - I came to the realization that LAST year was my last birthday celebration. I found myself making Valentine's for Zach's teachers at daycare until 10:30 (that is very late for me these days) the night before V-day and realized this is what I will be doing each and every year going forward. Sorry Mom, sorry Josh, sorry Me! My birthday and Valentine's day now belongs to my beautiful son...(and I wouldn't change it for the world.)
My pathetic looking cookies.. I need to practice before next time.
The weather was so nice last weekend, we couldnt help but spend the entire day outside. Here are some pictures of Josh and Zach. I happen to think they are adorable!!
A few months ago, Randi tells me about "babylovesdisco." Apparently, "babylovesdisco" started on the east coast and has made its way to California. "Babylovesdisco" is an event where parents bring their young kids (6 months to 7 years old) to a club type setting and dance to hip hop music and music like the hokey pokey. But this is not the normal hokey pokey as we found out this past weekend. At about 3:00 p.m. we get to the Shark Club, in Costa Mesa. The parking lot is packed. The last time I was at the Shark Club, I was in law school, 7 years ago. Now, Fast forward 7 years to this past weekend. At the front door, they put a bracelet on Zach's ankle (in case we lose him). We get inside, and bam, the music (hip hop hokey pokey) is going, moms and dads are dancing with their babies on the dance floor, the DJ is getting the kids excited by making funky mix noises with his records, lights are flashing, bubbles falling from the ceiling, changing stations, organic food bars for the babies, a "chill out room" for relaxing and feeding, toys everywhere, and my favorite, a BAR for the adults. WHAT A GREAT IDEA. We had an awesome time. Initially, Zach was scared, clenching his hands around Randi. After being on the dance floor for a few songs, Zach was going crazy. He was swinging his legs everywhere. We can't wait to go back next month.
